Balloon launched from World Scout Jamboree floats across the Atlantic Ocean

The fact that something so small and low-cost was able to cross the Atlantic Ocean is, in my opinion, amazing.  Had to be pretty exciting for the scouts involved.

I haven’t posted much in this blog, even though I started it few years ago.  I have been on-air intermittently since 2012 and have made a few hundred contacts around the world.

Welcome

First licensed as Technician in Aug. 2012, but did not do much with it, and put everything Radio-related into storage for past 3-4 years. Renewed interest in the hobby around July 2018; upgraded to General Class lic. 09-29-2018.

Current setup:  Yaesu FT450D, with the LDG YT-450 antenna-tuner, as station at home; Yaesu FT817 with an LDG Z-817 Autotuner to use as portable/QRP for #SoTA and at parks, camping for #WWFF and #KFF activations, etc.  As of 09-01-2018 I have a Gap Titan DX vertical mounted on a mast near the house, with base of antenna at 15-feet AGL and top at 40-feet AGL.
